Food probe

How the food probe works
The metal tip of the food probe is
inserted into the food. There is a
temperature sensor in the metal tip
which measures the core temperature
of the food during cooking.
The core temperature set will depend
on how well cooked you want your
meat to be and on the type of meat.
The temperature can be set between
30 and 99 °C.
The cooking duration will depend on a
number of different factors. The higher
the temperature in the oven
compartment and the moisture, where
applicable and the thinner the meat, the
quicker the set core temperature will be
reached.
The cooking programme will finish
automatically when the core
temperature in the meat reaches the
value set for the food probe. Exception:
In
 or User programmes
Combi mode
where another cooking stage, e.g.
browning has been set.
The core temperature value is sent via a
signal from the transmitter in the handle
of the food probe via the antenna in the
middle of the top heating element to the
appliance's electronic unit as soon as
the food with the food probe is placed
in the oven.
Uninterrupted transmission of the signal
is only possible with the door shut. If
the oven door is opened during the
cooking programme, e.g. to baste the
meat, then the signal is interrupted. It
will resume once the door has been
118
closed. It will take a few seconds for
the current core temperature to show
up in the display again.
The food probe will be damaged if
used incorrectly.
If the food probe is not being used, it
must not be left in the oven during a
cooking programme. The
temperature sensor will be destroyed
at temperatures over 100 °C.
For this reason, the food probe
should be replaced in its holder in
the door when it is not being used.
It will not be damaged when it is
inserted into the food, as it is only
possible to select core temperatures
up to 99 °C.
