File Manager
Menu bar
F
ile Manager shows you the contents of diskettes and the contents of
the folders on the diskettes. When you open File Manager, you will
automatically see the contents of the diskette in the disk drive.
Files, folders, and applications are represented by icons. When you want
to do something with a file, folder, or application, you can use its icon.
For example, to open a folder, double-click its icon.
File" and document" often mean the same thing. They do not contain
other files or documents. Each one is a single unit. For example, a
one-page letter is a document.
Folders store documents, applications, and other folders.
The contents of the folder appears in the Folder Window, which opens
when you double-click on a folder. (The name and path" of the folder
appears in the Information Bar.)
Folder Icons. The terms "folder" and "directory"
are often used interchangeably, in much the same
way that "file" and "document" often are.
Information Bar displays the
folder pathname, starting with
the name of the diskette and
its path, the number of files
and folders currently in the
folder window, the disk space
in bytes (characters) used by
the files shown, and the
amount of space remaining on
the diskette containing the
folder.
File Icons show you
the application that the
document was created
in, represented by the
icon placed over 3
sheets of paper.
Title Bar shows you that you
are in the File Manager ap-
plication.
