DRAIN VALVE
The number of drain valves can vary depend-
ing on the model MFS machine you are
servicing. The drain valve(s} is located close
to the rear of the machine. The rear service
panel must be removed to access and per-
form service on this component.

The drain valve consist of a motor, valve
body, shaft, return spring, and pivoting ball
inside the body used for closing. The drain
valve is controlled by the control board.
When power is applied to the drain valve it
will close, stopping water from going into the
drain. The valve automatically opens when
power is removed. This allows the normally
open drain valve to drain in the event of a
power failure.

To service the drain valve be sure to Discon-
nect Power to the machine.
• Check the motor winding for continuity,
short circuit or abnormal drop in voltage.
• Check that the shaft and rotor of the motor
turns freely.
• Check that the internal valve is closing and
does not bind. Foreign matter may be
stuck inside the valve.
