9 Remove the spark plug cap from the
high tension cord.
9 Connect the pocket tester (W × 1k) to the
spark plug cap.

Spark plug cap resistance:
4.0–6.0 kW

5. Ignition coil (TCI unit) resistance
9 Remove the ignition coil (TCI unit).
9 Connect the pocket tester (W × 1) to the
primary terminal.

Tester + lead → Black/White terminal 1
Tester - lead → Body ground 2
Primary coil resistance:
0.6 W ± 20 %

TIP
9 Do not pull out the spark plug cap from the
high tension cord.
9 Remove → Turn the spark plug cap coun-
terclockwise.
9 Install → Turn the spark plug cap clock-
wise.
9 Check the high tension cord for cracks or
deterioration before installing the spark plug
cap.
9 Cut 5 mm off the end of the high tension
cord, and then connect it to the spark plug
cap.
Replace the spark plug cap.
Replace the TCI unit.
