8.1 INTRODUCTION

8.1.22 ENABLE/DISABLE PASSWORDS

This category is used to enable/disable LUI passwords. MASTER privilege level is required.
If passwords are currently enabled the relay will ask to disable the passwords; if passwords are currently disabled, the relay
will ask to enable the passwords. In either case, if [3/N] (NO) is pressed, CANCELED is displayed and the command is ter-
minated.
The [1/Y] (YES) is pressed, the current state for the operation of the passwords will be changed. If the current state is dis-
abled, the relay will ask for the MASTER password. PASSWORDS ENABLED is displayed and passwords will be required
to perform most of the relay commands through the keypad. When the passwords are enabled, the passwords in effect
before disabling the passwords are restored. If the passwords are disabled when the command is executed, PASSWORDS
DISABLED is displayed and no passwords will be required to perform most relay commands. Remember: a MASTER level
password is required to perform this command whether or not passwords are enabled.
8.1.23 RESET DATA
This command is used to reset the fault, event, oscillography and breaker health data.
Use the arrow keys or choose the item number to select an item to be reset. Once an item has been selected, press the
[ENT] key again. The user is prompted to reset the data. If [3/N] (NO), [ENT] is pressed, CANCELED is displayed and the
data is not reset. If [1/Y] (YES), [ENT] is pressed, the data is reset and a message displayed which must be cleared with the
[CLR] key. If a fault is in progress while attempting to reset fault data or equipment duty data, an error message is displayed
and the data is not reset.
An event is logged for each successful reset operation. CONTROL or MASTER privilege is needed to perform this com-
mand and communications must not be executing an action command.
8.1.24 RESET RECLOSER
This command is used to manually reset the recloser. It is only available if the optional recloser is installed in the relay.
CONTROL or MASTER privilege level is required to use this command. Communication interference is checked for before
the reset operation.
When the Reset Recloser command is chosen, the relay prompts to start the test. If the user presses [1/Y] (YES) followed
by the [ENT] key, the relay attempts to reset the recloser. After the reset operation is attempted the status of recloser after
the operation is displayed. A message is displayed to report the result of the operation. Either the recloser was successfully
reset, the reset operation was unsuccessful, or the recloser was manually locked out. The [CLR] key must be used to clear
the message. If the user presses [3/N] (NO) followed by the [ENT] key, the command is canceled and CANCELED is dis-
played.
8.1.25 ADJUST CONTRAST
The contrast level of the LCD display can be adjusted using this command. The ↑ or ↓ keys are used to increase or
decrease the contrast of the display, respectively. As the arrow keys are pressed, the contrast change will be visible on the
8
display. Increasing the contrast will make the characters appear darker on the display; decreasing the contrast will make
the characters lighter on the display.
If the minimum or maximum contrast limit has been reached, the relay will change the prompt to INCREASE or
DECREASE only (depending on the limit reached). Pressing the other arrow will not affect the contrast.
An error message will be displayed if the data entry keys are used. CONTROL or MASTER privilege is required to use this
command.
