Power Mirrors
F u n c t i o n T e s t
1. Remove the driver's door switch t r i m (see page
20-7).
NOTE: The illustration shows 4-door.
*: C a n a d a
2. Disconnect the 13P connector (A) f r o m the power
mirror switch (B), and inspect the terminals. If OK,
go to step 3.
3. Choose the appropriate test based on the
s y m p t o m :
• Both mirrors don't w o r k , go to step 4.
• Left mirror doesn't w o r k , go to step 6.
• Right mirror doesn't w o r k , go to step 7.
• Defogger doesn't w o r k (Canada), go to step 8.
Both mirrors
4. Check for voltage between the No. 6 terminal and
body ground w i t h the ignition switch ON (II).
There should be battery voltage.
• If there is no battery voltage, check for:
- Blown No. 30 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash
fuse/relay box.
- A n open in the BLK/YEL w i r e .
• If there is battery voltage, go to step 5.
5. Check for continuity between the No. 3 terminal
and body g r o u n d .
There should be continuity.
• If there is no continuity, check for:
- A n open in the BLK w i r e .
- Poor g r o u n d (G501, G601).
• If there is continuity, check both mirrors
individually as described in step 6 and 7.
Left mirror
6. Connect the No. 6 t e r m i n a l to the No. 9 t e r m i n a l ,
and the No. 2 (or No. 10) t e r m i n a l to the No. 3
terminal w i t h j u m p e r wires. The left mirror should
tilt d o w n (or s w i n g left) w i t h the ignition switch ON
(II).
• If the mirror does not tilt d o w n (or does not s w i n g
left), check for an open in the RED/BLU (or GRN/
WHT) w i r e between the left m i r r o r and the 13P
connector. If the w i r e is OK, check the left mirror
actuator.
• If the mirror neither tilts d o w n nor swings left,
repair the BLU/GRN w i r e .
• If the mirror works properly, check the mirror
switch.
Right mirror
7. Connect the No. 6 terminal to the No. 7 t e r m i n a l ,
and the No. 1 (or No. 10) t e r m i n a l to the No. 3
terminal w i t h j u m p e r w i r e s . The right mirror should
tilt d o w n (or swing left) w i t h the ignition switch ON
(II).
• If the mirror does not tilt d o w n (or does not s w i n g
left), check for an open in the LT GRN (or GRN/
WHT) w i r e between the right mirror and the 13P
connector.
If the w i r e is OK, check the right mirror actuator.
• If the mirror neither tilts d o w n nor swings left,
repair the RED w i r e .
• If the mirror w o r k s properly, check the mirror
switch.
Defogger (Canada)
8. Connect the No. 12 and No. 11 terminals w i t h a
j u m p e r w i r e , and check for voltage between the
No. 4 terminal of the m i r r o r connectors and body
g r o u n d . There should be battery voltage and both
mirrors should w a r m up w i t h the ignition switch
ON (II).
• If there is no voltage or neither w a r m s up, check
for:
- An open in the BLK/YEL or ORN wire.
- Blown No. 30 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash
fuse/relay box.
• If only one fails to w a r m up, check:
- Its defogger.
- Poor g r o u n d (G501, G601).
• If both w a r m up, check the defogger switch.
