Adjusting the Accelerator Pedal Upstop
1. With the accelerator pedal up, measure the
distance from the rearward-bottom corner of the
accelerator-pedal arm to the floor
Note: Write down this measurement (measurement
1).

2. Gently move the throttle pedal down until the free play
is removed from between the accelerator pedal and the
throttle cable

3. While holding the pedal in position to remove the free
play, measure the distance from the rearward bottom
corner of the accelerator-pedal arm to the floor

Note: Write down this measurement (measurement
2).
4. Subtract measurement 2 from measurement 1; the
result is the pedal-free travel.
Note: The pedal-free travel should measure 3 mm
(0.125 inch).
5. If the pedal-free travel is larger than or smaller than 3
mm (0.125 inch), perform the following:
A. Loosen the jam nut that secures the
accelerator-pedal stop
B. Rotate the accelerator-pedal stop in the following
directions:
Clockwise to increase the pedal-free travel
(Figure

Counterclockwise to decrease the pedal-free
travel

until you measure a 6.35 mm
