When a Client imports data, it is also necessary to enter a link on the server!
5.1.8.2
Different software versions
The device software undergoes ongoing development. At the time of delivery, you are provided with the currently
released version. This will come with some recommendations on how to handle differing versions of the software.
Fundamentally, it is recommended for all users to have the same software version. When that is given, there is then
no problem of your PCs to configure different measurement devices.
Under some circumstances, mixed operation is possible:
The database is compatible (not changes to the main version number, e.g from 2.x to 3.x )
The measurement devices may not be configured by the PC with the older version.
If you use a PC only for data viewing, the mode
Import of old data to a new version is possible. A measurement device needs not be stopped necessarily.
Connection to the online data view is not possible!
An old version can never load the parameter set of a new version, since the new program features are not even
known to the old version!
Once the database has been updated to the new edition, reverse conversion is no longer possible!
Recommendations regarding software updating
Variant 1:
Test of new software on a separate PC. by this means, the central database is not altered.
Un-installation is possible and existing data remain unaffected.
Variant 2:
Start of the update on the Server. This is the central location from which both old and new data and parameter
sets can be processed.
Update of the Client-PCs
Selection of an appropriate point in time for stopping the measurement devices and to configure them with the
new version (it may be necessary to perform a firmware update)
Reverting to old version is then NO LONGER possible

Other possibilities
1. Server with enabled transfer path
a. SICAMQ 80 Autotransfer is performed continually on a (multiple) computer(s).
b. The measured data are copied from the measurement devices onto the Server's transfer path.
c. SICAMQ 80 Autoreport is called by the Windows Task Manager each morning and each evening, in order to
import and evaluate newly accumulated measurement data.
2. Server as Administrator, all other PCs set as restricted users.
a. The safest option – because measurements can be interrupted and restarted at only one location.
