Chapter 7. Operation with the Filter Panel
Filter Panels should be used to filter sample streams that contain high levels of suspended solids or solids having
diameters larger than 200 m. The InnovOx On-Line TOC Analyzer is designed to control up to five Filter Panels.
Refer to the GE Filter Panel Operation and Maintenance Manual for instructions on the installation and setup of
the Filter Panel.

Operation of Filter Panel with Sample Pump

The Filter Panel must be installed so that the water to be filtered flows through the Filter Panel. In some cases,
the water is not pressurized enough to flow through the Filter Panel and through the filter screen to the Analyzer.
In those cases, it is necessary to pump the filtered water from the Filter Panel to the Analyzer.
The InnovOx On-Line TOC Analyzer can accommodate an optional peristaltic sample pump for that purpose. The
pump is controlled by the Analyzer to draw filtered water from the Filter Panel prior to each Sample Flush and
measurement. No settings must be made to set up the pump once it is installed.

Control of Filter Panel

The Analyzer has two parameters for operation of the Filter Panel: Blowback Pulses and Blowback Delay. These
parameters operate the blowback feature, which automatically cleans the filter screen in the Filter Panel. Figure
42: Blowback Pulses and Delay illustrates a measurement using a Filter Panel. The measurement was set up to
include one Sample Flush and the measurement itself consists of two repetitions. The Blowback Pulses
