CAUTION: Users should only replace a single PSU or Fan during a single service action. Never replace multiple
FRUs at once.
WARNING: Always comply with all electrostatic and thermal guidelines to prevent bodily injury and ensure a
properly functioning system when performing hot-plug operations.
Ensure that none of the following conditions exist:
Chassis top cover is slid open.
Ambient temperature is too high.
External airflow is obstructed.
Fan module is removed or has failed. See section
6.6

Troubleshooting ESM

CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or
telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Lenovo is not covered by
the warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.

CAUTION: The users can replace the bad ESM without powering off. When removing the modules, leave the
storage powered on.
If the ESM fault LED is solid on: Call Lenovo service support.
If the link status LED is not green:
1)
Check if the Mini-SAS HD cable is properly connected between this ESM and the server. Reseat the cable if
necessary.
2)
If the condition persists, replace the Mini-SAS HD cable.
