1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 112.
3. Locate the memory module. See "Computer components" on page 31.
4. Remove any parts that might prevent your access to the memory module. Depending on your computer
model, you might need to remove the heat sink. See "Replacing the heat sink" on page 116.
5. Open the retaining clips and gently pull the memory module out of the memory slot.

6. Insert the notched end
firmly and pivot the memory module until it snaps into place. Make sure that the memory module is
secured in the slot and does not move easily.

7. Reinstall the heat sink if you have removed it. See "Replacing the heat sink" on page 116.
