Installing the Roller Brush
Parts needed for this procedure:

Roller-brush housing
2
Hex-socket bolt (3/8 x 1 inch)
1
Roller-brush assembly
1
Shoulder bolt
1
Belt cover/plate assembly (left)
2
Bolt (5/16 x 1/2 inch)
1
Spacer
1
Drive pulley
1
Flange-head bolt (3/8 x 2 inches)
1
Belt
1
Shim washer (as required for belt alignment)
1
Driveshaft (right)
1
Driveshaft (left)
1
Grease fitting (90°)

Preparing the Machine

1.
Park the machine on a level surface and engage
the parking brake.
2.
Ensure that the cutting units are disengaged.
3.
Shut off the engine and remove the key.
4.
Remove all the cutting units from the machine.

Important:
desired height of cut and attitude. Make
adjustments per the Operator's Manual, if
required, before installing the kit.

Installing the Driveshaft

1.
Restrain the reel; refer to
for Removing Threaded Inserts (page
g027187

Remove the cutting-unit threaded insert for the
rear-roller-brush drive
and discard it

on the face of the insert

Note:
Left-handed inserts are on Reelmaster
3100 Cutting Units 1 and 2
Reelmaster 7000 Cutting Units 1, 3, and 5

Restrain the reel; refer to
for Installing Threaded Inserts (page

Apply thread-locking compound to the driveshaft
threads
(Figure
torquing it to 115 to 128 N∙m (85 to 95 ft-lb).
Note:
The use of an impact gun is not enough
to ensure proper installation. Failure to properly
torque the driveshaft can result in the assembly
unscrewing itself during operation.
