1.4 Graphite Cuvette Installation

1.4.1 Selection of
Graphite
Cuvette
There are 4 types of graphite cuvettes selectable. Among them,
select the optimum one for a sample to be measured.
Pyro Tube HR Cuvette:
Because the surface of this cuvette is coated with ultrahigh-
density graphite, it is suitable for analysis of almost all
elements.
Tube HR Cuvette:
This is a tube type cuvette without pyrolytic coating.
Although this cuvette is applicable to almost all elements, its
sensitivity is lower than the pyrolytic tube type cuvette.
Cup HR Cuvette:
Because this cuvette has a large sample inlet and is so
designed as to prevent diffusion of sample solution, it is
suitable for manual sampling and analysis of solid and
powdery samples. However, maximum temperature is
limited to 2,100 C due to structural reason, so this cuvette is
usable only for analyzing elements which can be atomized at
2,100 C or lower. (Even though the cuvette is set above
2100 C, its temperature will not reach it.) Its sensitivity is
lower than the Tube HR cuvette.
Platform HR Cuvette:
Used with a plate-shaped platform inserted. Because a
sample is heated by radiation from the cuvette tube wall,
interference by coexisting substances can be reduced.
For making the platform method effective, it is recommended
to stop the carrier gas in atomization, select optical
temperature control, use matrix modifiers.
Pyro Tube HR D Cuvette
This cuvette uses the twin-injection method. It splits the
measurement sample into 2 to help reduce the drying time.
