Baking in the oven

• Roof and floor heating
Most types of Hn or dsh are suAabie

ing. With roof and floor heating the
type ano finish of tin or dish used can
give a variation in result Dark (Ins with
a matt finish are preferable. Place
cakes with fresh fruit and deep cakes
in their tins on (he oven tray to prevent
the oven getting dirty.

Two cakes In tins can be baked at the
same time either re>ct to each other on
the same level, or one above the other.
There Is a minimal increase in baking
time.

Shelf posKlon
Shelf positions are numbered from the
bottom, i.e. shetf position 1 (or mnner
height 1) Is the bottom shelf position.
Select rumer heigN accordng to
heigMof item.eg. 1 or 2 for deep
cakes. 2 or 3 for cakes and biscuits
• Fan oven heating
Baldng may take piece on several
levels at the same time. The following

1 bay - 1 St runrter from the bottom

This type of haatinQ is very good for
cakes wflh motet loppmQs ar>o cakes
with bases vid4ch have not been pre¬
baked.
The first runner from bottom is usually
the best. If r>o( use the second.
General cwtee
Cakes and biscuits will brown evenly if
the temperature is lowered slightly and
(he baking bma irwreased.
Deep frozen pizzas should be placed
in the roesting dteh for cooking.
Before baking time is up test high
cakes to see if they are done with a
metal or wooden skewer.
N. B. When baking mdst cakes oi

levels.
