Application
• A51: Transformer protection. The two-phase differential protection function which is available in
this option can be used for main and back-up protection of Traction/Auto transformers.
• B60: Line distance protection. The six-zone, 3 parallel loops distance protection with multi-
section fault locator is the major functionality of this option. This option is the optimized solution
for two-phase transmission systems.
• B70: Catenary distance protection. The two five-zone catenary distance protection functions
accompanied with scheme communication and the catenary specific fault locator are the major
functionalities of this option. The very high speed overcurrent protection is a part of this
protection. The continuous monitoring of harmonics function is also available in this option. It
can be used for protection, control and monitoring of any catenary line (BT based or AT Based).
Two instances of catenary distance has made this option scalable to cover applications of
parallel catenary back-up and wrong phase coupling with a single IED.
• C61: Bay control and back up protection. This is a generic bay control with back-up protection in
1-phase and 2-phase systems.
• H50: These are the functional groups, which decide the bay control functionalities such as
equipment controls, autoreclosure, etc. They can be clubbed with any of the options mentioned
above.
The packages A51 and B60 contain all main and backup protection functions for transformer or line
protection. Only one of them can be ordered for a single IED. Both packages can be extended with
additional functions like synchrocheck (H51) and autoreclosure (H52). Also full control functionality
can be added to these packages.
The package H50 describes a control IED, which can be extended with synchrocheck, autoreclosure
and backup protection (C61).
More optional functions can be added as described in the next chapter.
The number and type of analog inputs and binary input/output as well as the mA input and
communication modules can be selected when ordering.
