Configure Secure Erase
Before enabling Secure Erase, verify that the imagePRESS Server is not receiving, processing, or printing files. If the
system has just finished processing, wait at least five seconds after the system reaches Idle before you proceed.
1 Make sure that Enable Printed Queue is off.
Note: If Enable Printed Queue is on, Secure Erase does not work.
2 Log into WebTools or Command WorkStation as Administrator and access Configure.
3 Click Security > Secure Erase and then select Enable Secure Erase.
4 Select the Operational Mode.
Idle Time Deleted jobs are designated for Secure Erase and then erased when the imagePRESS Server is idle
(provides the best performance).
Run Time Job data is erased securely every time a job is deleted (provides the highest security).
5 Click Save. The imagePRESS Server must be rebooted for configuration changes to take effect.

Configuring print connections

The imagePRESS Server supports several print connections, which determine how users can submit jobs to the
imagePRESS Server and subsequently the printer.
To use utilities and WebTools, you must enable at least one print connection.
The following print connections can be configured:

Print queue

on page 68
Hold queue
on page 69
Direct connection
on page 69
To turn print connections on or off, open Configure and select Job Submission > Queues.
All published print connections are constantly checked for the presence of jobs.
The Print queue and Direct Connection give users more direct access to the imagePRESS Server than the Hold
queue. Therefore, do not publish the Print queue and the Direct Connection in environments where maximum
control is required.
If more than one imagePRESS Server print connection is published, it may be useful to create separate printer
instances on the client computers. For example, if both the Hold queue and Print queue are published, then each
user could create a Hold printer and a Print printer on their client computer. This allows users to print directly to
each print connection.
Print queue
The Print queue is the standard imagePRESS Server queue. Jobs sent to the Print queue are processed and printed in
the order in which they are received.
