There are three types of sensors:

All transmitted light must pass through the extremity to the detector.
The patient must have at least a minimum pulse.
The light emitter and the photodetector must be opposite each other.

Disposable
Disposable sensors should be used once only and
then discarded. However, they can be relocated to
a different application site on the patient if the
first location does not give the desired results.
Disposable sensors must not be reused on differ-
ent patients.
