Chapter 9: Troubleshooting
6405 - Peristaltic Pump Life Warning
Message: "The estimated pump life is less than 2 weeks. Order new peristaltic pumps to replace P1-SH and P1-R."
Explanation: Based on the history of usage, the Analyzer estimates that only two weeks of peristaltic pump life
remains. Order two new peristaltic pumps from GE now to avoid down time when the pumps expire.
6406 - Tubing Life Warning
Message: "The estimated tubing life is less than 2 weeks. Order new tubing."
Explanation: Based on the history of usage, the Analyzer estimates that only two weeks of pinch valve tubing
remains. The tubing must be replaced to protect the operation of the pinch valves. Order tubing from GE now to
avoid down time and more costly failures of pinch valves.
6408 - iButton Read Error
Message: "Unable to read system information from iButton
persists, consult the Operation and Maintenance Manual for further instructions."
Explanation: This is a failure to read information from the iButton. This information includes the serial number,
family, and model. Possible reasons for failure include corrosion on iButton contacts, a gap between the iButton
and system board contacts, or a component failure. Consult GE Analytical Instruments for further instructions on
determining the root cause.
6409 - Internal Communications Error
Message: "Internal communications problem. Please power cycle the Analyzer. If the problem persists, consult
the Operation and Maintenance Manual for further instructions."
Explanation: A module in the Analyzer is not communicating over the bus. First, evaluate the LEDs on the
individual boards. You can sometimes view the reflection of the LEDs looking through the hole on the back cover
of the instrument. Or, for a better view, remove the back cover. All boards should have a green LED to indicate
power. Any yellow LEDs blinking faster than once per second, other than on the NDIR board (see figure 55), may
indicate a problem with the board. If this is the case, shut down the Analyzer and turn off power. Check that all
connections on the gray ribbon cable are secured to their respective boards. If the problem persists, export the
errors and contact GE Analytical Instruments for further instructions.
N
:
It is not abnormal for the yellow LED on the NDIR board to blink faster. However, on
OTE
Analyzer start-up the rate should be consistent with the other boards' LEDs.
