Service Interval: Every 200 hours—Check and gap
the spark plug (EFI engines only).
Every 500 hours—Check and gap the spark
plug (Non-EFI engines only).
Make sure that the air gap between the center and
side electrodes is correct before installing the spark
plugs. Use a spark-plug wrench for removing and
installing the spark plugs and a gapping tool/feeler
gauge to check and adjust the air gap. Install new
spark plugs if necessary.

Checking the Spark Plugs
Important:
Replace the spark plugs when they
have: a black coating, worn electrodes, an oily
film, cracks or reuse is questionable.
If you see light brown or gray on the insulator, the
engine is operating properly. A black coating on the
insulator usually means that the air cleaner is dirty.
Set the gap to 0.76 mm (0.030 inch).
