Beater Shaft Design Change

The introduction of more powerful motors and stronger gearboxes on Kenwood kitchen
machines (Chef and Major) necessitated a change to the tool shaft and gearbox planet hub,
from the original circlip design to a new bayonet type. Cooking Chefs have all been
produced from the outset with the bayonet design planet hub.

The change from circlip design to bayonet design was progressively implemented through
2008 production, and all new kitchen machines produced now use the new bayonet design.
New improved circlip shafts were also introduced as part of this engineering change to
support previous models. These new circlip shafts have a shorter thread length and
shoulder that prevents the shaft nut "winding up" and locking the mixing tool onto the
planet hub under heavy mixing loads.
