RECEPTION DISTURBANCES

Most types of television interference can be remedied by adjusting the height and position of the VHF/UHF
antenna. Outdoor antennas are recommended for best results. The most common types of television interfer-
ence are shown below. If one of these symptoms appear when the TV/VCR is connected to a Cable TV system,
the disturbance may be caused by the local Cable TV company broadcast.
IGNITION

GHOSTS

direct pa th a nd the othe r is re fle cte d by ta ll buildings, hills or other large
objects. C ha nging the dire ction or position of the antenna m ay im prove the
rece ption.
SNOW
If the T V /V C R is located fa r from the T V sta tion, in a fringe reception
a re a whe re the signal is we a k, sm a ll dots m ay appear in the picture.
If the signa l is extrem e ly we a k, the insta lla tion of a larger external
a ntenna m ay be ne cessa ry.
RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE (RFI)
C a use d by two-way ra dios, this type of inte rfe re nce produces m oving
ripple s or dia gona l stre aks in the picture. S om e cases m ay ca use a loss of
contra st in the picture. C ha nging the dire ction and position of the antenna
or insta lling a n R F I filte r m ay im prove the picture.
PICTURE SIZE VARIATION
A slight picture size va ria tion is norm a l whe n you adjust the C O N T R AS T or
BR IG H T N E S S se ttings.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
To preve nt fire or shock ha za rd, disconne ct the T V /V C R from the AC powe r source before cleaning.
