CABLE TV CONNECTIONS

T his T V /V C R ha s a n exte nde d tuning ra nge a nd can tune m ost cable channels without using a C able T V converter box.
S om e ca ble com pa nie s offe r "pre m ium pay cha nnels" in which the signa l is scram bled. D escram bling these signals for
norm a l viewing re quire s the use of a de scra m ble r device which is generally provided by the cable com pany.

FOR SUBSCRIBERS TO SCRAMBLED CABLE TV SERVICE
If you subscribe to a ca ble T V se rvice which re quires the use of a converter/descram bler box, connect the incom ing
7 5 ohm coaxia l ca ble to the conve rte r/de scra m bler box. U sing another 75 ohm coaxial cable, connect the output jack
of the conve rte r/de scra m ble r box to the a ntenna jack on the T V /V C R . Follow the connections shown below. S et the
T V /V C R to the output cha nne l of the conve rte r/descram bler box (usually channel 3 or 4) and use the converter/
descra m ble r box to se le ct cha nne ls.

FOR SUBSCRIBERS TO UNSCRAMBLED BASIC CABLE TV SERVICE WITH
SCRAMBLED PREMIUM CHANNELS
If you subscribe to a ca ble T V se rvice in which basic channels a re unscram bled and prem ium channels require the
use of a conve rte r/descra m ble r box, you m ay wish to use a signal splitter and an A/B switch box (available from the
C a ble com pa ny or a n e lectronics supply store ). Follow the connections shown below. W ith the switch in the "B"
position, you ca n dire ctly tune a ny nonscra m ble d channels on your T V /V C R . W ith the switch in the "A" position, tune
your T V /V C R to the output of the conve rte r/de scram bler box (usually channel 3 or 4) and use the converter/
de scra m ble r box to tune scra m ble d cha nne ls.

For basic cable service not requiring a converter/descram bler box,
connect the C AT V 75 ohm coaxial cable directly to the antenna jack
on the ba ck of the T V /V C R .
