4-way server blade
The following section describes the components and the installation and
removal of a PRIMERGY BX600 4-way server blade.
4-way server blade: Features
The 4-way server blade combines the core components of a conventional server
in a hot-swappable slide-in module with two to four Intel® Xeon™ processors,
one or two SCSI hard disk drives, and up to 16 GB RAM. The 4-way server blade
occupies two slots in the blade server chassis. It can be installed in combination
with other PRIMERGY BX600 server blade models.
The 4-way server blade offers four processor sockets. The base config-

uration contains two processors. Processors 3 and 4 can be added
later. A 4-way server blade can accommodate Intel
processors with 2.2 GHz, 2.7 GHz or 3.0 GHz.
The 2.2 GHz CPU offers 2 MB third-level cache, the 2.7 GHz and 3.0
GHz CPUs each offer 4 MB third-level cache.

A 4-way server blade offers four memory banks with two 184-pin DDR
RAM
slots each. One memory bank can accommodate two DDR SDRAM
modules with 1 GB, 2 GB or 4 GB combined memory. This allows a
maximum memory configuration of 16 GB. ECC with memory
scrubbing and a hot-spare memory bank are standard.

LAN availability The 4-way server blade offers 2x2 1-gigabit LAN channels which are
connected to the LAN via the switch blades of the blade server.
If two FC daughter cards are installed, the 4-way server blade can be

equipped with up to four 2 Gbit/sec Fibre Channel I/O ports. To enable
use of the Fibre Channel functionality, at least one FC pass-through
blade must be installed in the blade server.
