2G GSM Gateway Fax

3. FAX FUNCTIONALITY

2G GSM Gateway Fax manages Fax Store&Forward functionality. This feature operates as follows: when the local fax machine
sends a fax, 2G GSM Gateway Fax receives and stores it into its internal memory.
At the end of transmission, 2G GSM Gateway Fax calls the real recipient and sends the saved pages. After the transmission, the
device deletes the stored fax.
The situation is similar when 2G GSM Gateway Fax receives a fax from a remote fax machine via GSM network: 2G GSM Gateway
Fax receives and stores the fax into its internal memory.
At the end of connection, 2G GSM Gateway Fax simulates a call to the local fax machine connected to TEL1 or TEL2 connector in
order to transfer the document. When the transfer is completed 2G GSM Gateway Fax deletes the stored fax.

3.1. SENDING FAX

Sending a fax is the same as if your analog fax machine is connected to a PSTN line.
You can send a fax by simply connecting an analog fax machine (G.3) at TEL1 or TEL2 connector. Insert the document in the fax
and dial the phone number.
Please, check only on the fax machine, the DTMF selection.

3.2. RECEIVING FAX

Receiving a fax is the same as if your analog fax machine is connected to a PSTN line.
To receive fax on 2G GSM Gateway Fax it is required a SIM card with Fax service enabled. Please check with your GSM operator
the Fax service activation. After the Fax service activation the GSM operator supplies you with a supplementary number, named
Fax number. The remote fax machine will call the Fax number to send a fax to 2G GSM Gateway Fax.

3.3. TRANSMISSION REPORT

To advise the user about the incoming fax, 2G GSM Gateway sends a "Transmission Report" to the fax machine connected to
TEL1/TEL2, both in case of correct transmission and in case of error.
If 2G GSM Gateway Fax can not complete the transmission of the pages because the user is busy, or for error transmission, 2G
GSM Gateway Fax makes 3 attempts with 20 seconds pause. If the 3 attempts fail, then the "Transmission Report" is printed. Also
in reception phase if an error occurs, (i.e.. "Reception Error", "Memory Full") 2G GSM Gateway sends a "Transmission Report" to
the fax machine connected to TEL1/TEL2.
