6. DATA COMMUNICATIONS

6-1. General

Performing Initial Setup and FULL RESET, data saved in the unit will be deleted.
Performing MEMORY BACKUP/RESTORE and CARD BACKUP TOOL Operations described in this
Chapter, save these data to PC and CF card before performing iInitial Setup and FULL RESET.
The following data communications are mainly applicable to E-125.
1. Between PC and E-125 using Activesync 3.1 software
2. Between CF card and E-125
3. Between Mobile phone and E-125
4. Between two E-125 units using IrDA
5. Between notebook-sized PC and E-125 using IrDA ports
6. Between E-125 (lower 20 pin connector) and Modem JK-720MA (U.S. and Canada only)
Refer to UNPACKING and GENERAL GUIDE in this manual concerning these communications.

6-2. Connection to PC

Connecting the Cradle to a Computer
The cradle has a USB cable for connection to a personal computer. Connect the end of the cable to a
USB port of the computer to which you want to connect.
Important
• See "Required System Configuration" on the later page for details on the type of computer system
required for use with the cradle.
• The above illustration is one example of possible connection configurations. The locations and
layouts of USB ports vary from computer to computer. See the documentation that comes with your
computer for full details on connecting cables to it.
• Note that after connecting the cradle to your computer, you also need to make certain ActiveSync
settings on your computer to enable data transfers. See the ActiveSync Help for details about
setting up and using ActiveSync.
