BIOS Update
The BIOS resides on a flash component. This appendix explains how to upgrade the BIOS
from a diskette. The appendix also explains how to recover from an interrupted upgrade.

Using the Upgrade Utility
1. Turn on the computer's power and access system setup by pressing F1 when
prompted.
2. Write down or print out (Shift + Print Scrn) the current setup selection in all three
menus, i.e. Main, Advanced and Security. Use the right arrow key to select the
individual setup menus, then print each menu.
3. Save and exit setup. Turn the computer off.
4. Remove the right-side panel (refer to section 4.2.5.) as viewed from the rear and lay
the computer on its side with the open side up.
5. Remove the CMOS clear jumper at J10C1-A pins 4-5, and install it on pins 5-6 of
J10C1-A (refer to Appendix B for the location of jumpers).
6. Turn on the computer's power. When the message NVRAM cleared by jumper
appears, turn the computer off.
7. Insert the CMOS clear jumper back to its original position on pins 4-5 of J10C1-A.
8. Insert the bootable Bios Upgrade diskette in the floppy drive and turn the computer's
power back on.
9. Press Enter when Flash Memory Upgrade Utility
10. Select (highlight using the down arrow key) Update FLASH Memory Area and
press Enter.
11. At the next menu Update System Bios is highlighted. Press Enter to select it.
12. When the next menu asks you to enter a path/file name, press the down arrow key
once to select 100xDH08.BIO and press Enter. "x" is the version of Bios the
system is being upgraded to.
13. The utility asks for confirmation that you want to load the file into Flash Memory.
Press Enter when Continue with programming
14. After the BIOS upgrade is completed, remove the diskette and press Enter to reboot
the unit.
15. Enter the setup menu by pressing F1 when prompted, and use the copy (printout) of
the setup you made at the beginning of this procedure. Set the setup options to those
before the Bios was upgraded.
