Calibrating Headstock
Elevation Scale
Although correctly set at the factory, the scale can
be adjusted for accuracy if it becomes necessary.
Tools Needed
Phillips Screwdriver #2 ...................................... 1
Scrap Piece of Stock ......................................... 1
Calipers ............................................................. 1
To calibrate scale:
1.
Plane scrap piece of stock until it is flat on
both sides and has even thickness along its
length.
Note: Turn scrap board over between each
pass to make surfaces parallel.
2.
Use calipers to measure board thickness.
3.
If there is a discrepancy between board thick-
ness and reading on elevation scale, loosen
Phillips head screw shown in Figure 42,
adjust position of red pointer to indicate cor-
rect thickness, then re-tighten screw.

Adjusting Cutterhead/
Table Parallelism
The cutterhead/table parallelism has been cor-

To adjust cutterhead/table parallelism:
1.
DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER!
2.
Install knives (refer to Adjusting/Replacing
Knives on Page 27 for detailed instructions).
3.
Place both pieces of stock on either side of
table, and lower headstock until cutterhead
just touches (see Figure 43).
Note: Having wood blocks at an even height
is critical to the accuracy of your overall
adjustments. For best results, square stock
with a jointer and table saw before using as a
gauge.

4.
Check cutterhead contact with wood blocks.
— If cutterhead makes even contact between
wood blocks, no adjustment is needed.
— If cutterhead only touches one wood block,
continue to Step 5.
