Replacing Drive Belt
The drive belt transfers power from the motor to
the cutterhead, and to the infeed and outfeed roll-
ers. To ensure efficient transfer of power to these
systems, make sure the belt is always properly
tensioned and in good condition.
If the belt is worn, cracked, or damaged, replace
it immediately.
Tools Needed
Hex Wrench 4mm .............................................. 1
Hex Wrench 5mm .............................................. 1
Phillips Screwdriver #2 ...................................... 1
To tension/replace drive belt:
1.
DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER!
2.
Raise headstock completely.
3.
Remove headstock top cover.
4.
Remove cutterhead depth stop dial (see
Figure 17 on Page 25).
Note: Dial is compression-fit in place, and
may take some pressure to remove.
5. Lift side panel up and away from machine to
expose drive belt and pulleys, as shown in
Figure 40.

6. Loosen motor tension cap screw (see Figure
40) to reduce belt tension, and roll old belt off
pulleys.
7. Loop new belt completely around motor
pulley but only halfway on cutterhead pulley.
8.
While applying pressure to belt with one
hand, slowly rotate motor pulley to fully seat
belt in grooves.
Note: Belt is correctly tensioned when there
is approximately ⁄

leys, as illustrated in Figure 41. Lift motor to
adjust deflections, then tighten motor tension
cap screw.

9. When belt is fully on both pulleys, rotate it
several times to make sure belt ribs are prop-
erly seated in pulley grooves.
— If belt ribs are not properly seated, roll belt
off pulleys and repeat Steps 6–8 until they
are.
10. Replace side panel, secure top cover, and
re-install cutterhead depth stop dial.
