SECTION 7: SERVICE

Review the troubleshooting procedures in this section if a problem develops with your machine. If you need
replacement parts or additional help with a procedure, call our Technical Support. Note: Please gather the
serial number and manufacture date of your machine before calling.
Motor & Electrical
Symptom
Possible Cause
Machine does not

7. Pulley/sprocket slipping on shaft.
8. Motor bearings at fault.
Machine has
1. Motor or component loose; planer not

Troubleshooting

Possible Solution
1. Install disabling key.
2. Reset; contact Tech Support if breaker frequently
trips.
3. Ensure power supply circuit is sized correctly and
free of shorts. Reset circuit breaker or replace fuse.
4. Correct switch wiring connections.
5. Check/fix broken, disconnected, or corroded wires.
6. Test/replace.
7. Replace carbon brushes.
8. Test/repair/replace.
1. Reduce depth of cut/feed rate.
2. Only cut wood/ensure moisture is below 20%.
3. Allow motor to cool, reset circuit breaker if
necessary, and reduce depth of cut/feed rate.
4. Clean/tension/replace belts (Page 36).
5. Sharpen/replace knives (Page 27); or replace
inserts (Page 29).
6. Clear blockages in dust chute/ducting. Ensure dust
collector is operating efficiently.
7. Tighten loose pulley; replace pulley/shaft if
damaged.
8. Test/repair/replace.
1. Inspect/tighten loose bolts/nuts; replace damaged
components; shim under planer.
2. Tension belts/replace with a matched set (Page 36).
3. Re-align/replace shaft, pulley set screw, and key.
4. Fix/replace fan cover; replace loose/damaged fan.
5. Resharpen/replace knives; set knife alignment
correctly (Page 27).
6. Test by rotating shaft; rotational grinding/loose shaft
requires bearing replacement.
7. Replace bearing(s).
