Battery appliance use and care
1. Prev e nt unintentional s t arting. Ens u re the s w itc h
is in the off-pos i tion before c o nnec t ing to battery
pac k ,
pic k i ng up or c a rry i ng the applianc e . Carry i ng
the appliance ith your nger on the s itch or
energiz i ng applianc e that have the s w itc h on inv i tes
ac c i dents .
2. Dis c o nnec t the battery pac k from the applianc e
be ore making any ad ustments, changing
ac c e s s o ries , or s t oring applianc e . Suc h prev e ntiv e
s a fety meas u res reduc e the ris k of s t arting the
applianc e ac c i dentally.
3. Recharge only ith the charger speci ed by the
manufac t urer. A c h arger that is s u itable for one ty p e
o battery pack may create a risk o re hen used
with another battery pac k .
4. Use appliances only ith speci cally designated
battery pac k s .
Us e of any other battery pac k s
create a risk o in ury and re.
5. When battery pac k is not in us e , k e ep it away from
other metal ob ects, like paper clips, coins, keys,
nails, scre s or other small metal ob ects, that can
mak e a c o nnec t ion from one terminal to another.
Shorting the battery terminals together may c a us e
burns or a re.
6. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be e ected rom
the battery ; av o id c o ntac t . If contac t ac c i dentally
occurs, ush ith ater. I liquid contacts eyes,
additionally seek medical help. Liquid e ected rom
the battery may c a us e irritation or burns .
7. Do not us e a battery pac k or applianc e that is
damaged or modi ed. Damaged or modi ed
batteries may ex h ibit unpredic t able behav i or
resulting in re, explosion or risk o in ury.
8. Do not expose a battery pack or appliance to re
or excessive temperature. Exposure to re or
temperature abov e 130 °C may c a us e ex p los i on.
9. Follow all c h arging ins t ruc t ions and do not c h arge
the battery pac k or applianc e outs i de of the
temperature range speci ed in the instructions.
Charging improperly or at temperatures outs i de of
the speci ed range may damage the battery and
increase the risk o re.
10. Have servicing per ormed by a quali ed repair
pers o n us i ng only identic a l replac e ment parts .
This will ens u re that the s a fety of the produc t is
maintained.
11. Do not modify or attempt to repair the applianc e
or the battery pac k ex c e pt as indic a ted in the
ins t ruc t ions for us e and c a re.
Important safety instructions for
battery cartridge
1. Before us i ng battery c a rtridge, read all ins t ruc t ions
and c a utionary mark i ngs on (1) battery c h arger, (2)
battery, and (3) produc t us i ng battery.
2. Do not dis a s s e mble battery cartridge.
3. If operating time has bec o me ex c e s s i v e ly s h orter,
s t op operating immediately. It may res u lt in a ris k of
ov e rheating, pos s i ble burns and ev e n an ex p los i on.
4. If elec t rolyte gets into y o ur ey e s , rins e them out with
c l ear water and s e ek medic a l attention right away. It
may res u lt in los s of y o ur ey e s i ght.
5. Do not s h ort the battery c a rtridge:
(1) Do not touc h the terminals with any c o nduc t iv e
material.
(2) Av o id s t oring battery c a rtridge in a c o ntainer with
other metal ob ects such as nails, coins, etc.
(3) Do not ex p os e battery c a rtridge to water or
rain. A battery s h ort c a n c a us e a large c u rrent
o , overheating, possible burns and even a
breakdown.
6. Do not s t ore the applianc e and battery c a rtridge
in loc a tions where the temperature may reac h or
ex c e ed 50°C (122°F).
7. Do not incinerate the battery c a rtridge ev e n if it is
s e v e rely damaged or is c o mpletely worn out. The
battery cartridge can explode in a re.

8. Be c a reful not to drop or s t rik e battery.
9. Do not us e a damaged battery.
10. The contained lithium-ion batteries are sub ect to
the Dangerous Goods Legis l ation requirements .
For c o mmerc i al trans p orts e.g. by third parties ,
forwarding agents, special requirement on packaging
and labeling mus t be obs e rv e d. For preparation of
the item being s h ipped, c o ns u lting an ex p ert for
haz a rdous material is required. Pleas e als o obs e rv e
pos s i bly more detailed national regulations . Tape
or mas k off open c o ntac t s and pac k up the battery
in s u c h a manner that it c a nnot mov e around in the
pac k a ging.
11. When dis p os i ng the battery c a rtridge, remov e it from
the tool and dis p os e of it in a s a fe plac e . Follow y o ur
loc a l regulations relating to dis p os a l of battery.
12. Use the batteries only ith the products speci ed
by Mak i ta. Ins t alling the batteries to non-c o mpliant
products may result in a re, excessive heat,
ex p los i on, or leak of elec t roly t e.
13. If the tool is not us e d for a long period of time, the
battery mus t be remov e d from the tool.
Tips for maintaining maximum battery life
1. Charge the battery c a rtridge before c o mpletely
dis c h arged.
Alway s s t op applianc e operation and c h arge the
battery c a rtridge when y o u notic e les s applianc e
power.
2. Nev e r rec h arge a fully c h arged battery c a rtridge.
Ov e rc h arging s h ortens the battery s e rv i c e life.
3. Charge the battery c a rtridge with room temperature
at 10°C - 40°C (50°F - 104°F). Let a hot battery
c a rtridge c o ol down before c h arging it.
4. Charge the battery c a rtridge if y o u do not us e it for a
long period (more than s i x months ) .
Save all warnings and
instructions for future reference.
