Troubleshooting

Problem
The maintenance wrench icon
appears in the power meter
display.
The data displayed is
inaccurate.
Cannot communicate with
power meter from a remote
personal computer.

Cause
There is a problem with the
inputs to the power meter.
Incorrect setup values.
Incorrect voltage inputs.
Power meter is wired improperly.
Power meter address is incorrect.
Power meter baud rate is incorrect.
Communications lines are
improperly connected.

Solution
• See the Alert sub-menu or the Diagnostic Alert
Modbus Register 146.
• Verify that the meter control power are receiving
the required voltage.
• Verify that the heart icon is blinking.
• Check the fuse.
• Check power meter voltage input terminals to
verify adequate voltage.
• Check all CTs and PTs to verify correct connection
to the same service, PT polarity, and adequate
powering. See the Wiring Diagrams section for
more information.
• Verify that the meter is correctly addressed (see
Setup section).
• Verify that the baud rate of the meter matches that
of all other devices on its communications link (see
Setup section).
• Verify the power meter communications
connections (see the Communications section).
• Verify the terminating resistors are properly
installed on both ends of a chain of units. Units in
the middle of a chain should not have a terminator.
• Verify the shield ground is connected between
all units.
