For g reatest benefit, th e air c le a n e r should run
all the tim e. T o do this, set th e fan switch on
yo u r therm ostat to O N , and m a k e sure the air
c le a n e r is sw itched O N . T h e fan and air c le a n e r
will run e ven w hen the fu rn a c e or air conditioner
is off.
N O T E : A m an ual fan switch m ay be built into
the fu rn a c e or fu rn a c e fan controller.
T h e air c le a n e r uses less p ow er than a 4 0 w att
light bulb (tw o-cell m odel— 3 3 watts; single cell
m odel— 2 2 w atts). T h e cost of running the
sys te m fan will v a ry with the s ize of y o u r fan
m otor and th e cost of electricity w h e re you live.
M o s t air c le a n e r o w n ers fee l that the a d d e d cost
is m ore than offset by the ad d e d benefits of full
tim e air clean ing and full tim e air circulation.
Yo u m ay fee l that the room te m p e ra tu re stays
m ore even w hen the fan is alw ays on.
Although the air c le a n e r is d esig n ed to be
efficient o ver a w ide ran ge of cell dirt loading
conditions, regular c lean ing is you r best
as s u ran c e of consistent p erfo rm ance. Also, a
v e ry dirty cell and prefilter reduces air flow and,
in turn, red uces the efficiency of the fu rn a c e or
air conditioner. T h e cell w ash rem ind er s c h e d ­
ule or th e optional W 8 6 0 0 F Air C le a n e r M onitor
should be used to m aintain a regular w ash
sched ule.
An activated carbon (ch arco al) filter is s o m e ­
tim es installed d o w n s tre a m of the air c le a n e r to
help control odors. This filter should be ch a n g e d
at least annually, or as re c o m m e n d ed by the
filter m an ufactu rer. H o neyw ell d oes not offer
carbon filters for this application.
