First, large particles (lint, hair) a re caug ht by the
prefilters. T h e n , as the dirty air p asses through
the intense high vo lta g e electric field surro un d ­
ing th e ionizer w ires, all particles, even the
sm allest are given an electric charge. T h e air
then p asses into the collector w h e re the
alte rn a te p arallel plates are c h arg ed positive
and n eg ative, creating a uniform electrostatic
field. S in ce o pposites attract, the c h arg ed
particles stick to the collector plates, which have
an opposite electric ch a rg e . T h e air leaving the
air c le a n e r contains v e ry fe w particles.

Each tim e the air circulates through the h eatin g /
air conditioning system and air c le an e r, more
particles are rem oved . T h e s e particles are
g en e ra te d by norm al household activities, and
also e n te r the house fro m outside. T h a t is w hy
w e reco m m en d that you use th e air c le a n e r as
m uch as possible.
