9.7 Monitoring functions
Heat dissipation via POM4220 fan
To achieve even heat distribution, a fan can be optionally mounted externally on the rack.
The fan is controlled depending on the internal temperature. For the performance profile of
the Power Output Module (POM) with and without a fan, refer to Section POM4220 power
rating (Page 43).
If it should prove necessary to operate the fans continuously, this can be done by the user.
Heat dissipation via CIM4210C and POM4320 fans
A fan is installed on the exterior of the enclosure in order to achieve uniform heat distribution
within the enclosure. The fan is controlled depending on the internal temperature.
If it should prove necessary to operate the fans continuously, this can be done by the user.

Monitoring power channels

Power output diagnostics
The Power Output Module (POM) has a diagnostics function to detect faults in the power
circuit. In every half-wave, the status of the power output is requested and checked at a fixed
point in time.
The following faults are detected:

Triac breakdown
Outgoing fuse tripped or triac
has high resistance
Return fuse tripped

POM4220 Highend:
For phase-phase connection, even in case of failure of the incoming
fuse
"Breakdown" means the triac is defective and conducts continuously
even without being activated.
This fault can only be detected if the power output is switched off. For
a 100 % setpoint, the fault can be neither detected nor flagged.
With POM4220 Highend, the "short-circuited triac" error is only de-
tected when the load is connected.
This fault can only be detected if the power output is switched on.
For a 0 % setpoint, the fault can be neither detected nor flagged.
