WARNING
The thermal protection must never be removed before the detectors have been
in a controlled environment and the detectors have reached room temperature.
It is suggested to allow the detector temperature to stabilize for a period of 24
hours with the thermal protection on the detector if the equipment is being
relocated from one temperature to an extremely different temperature
environment.
The accepted rate of change should be less than 15° F (8° C) per hour. Do not
locally heat or cool the detector so as to produce gradients greater than 5° F
(3° C) across the detector face. Failure to comply may result in detector
crystal breakage.
