Intended use
This adapter is used for Makita's Portable Battery
Checker to enable diagnose the Makita D.C. 57.6 V - 64
V max batteries and Makita portable power packs.

the instruction manual of the Portable Battery
Checker. Failure to follow the warnings and instruc-
tions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious
injury.

Before using this adapter, read all instructions
and cautionary markings on this adapter,
Portable Battery Checker, and battery car-
tridge / portable power pack.
2.
CAUTION – To reduce risk of injury, use only
Makita rechargeable batteries or portable power
packs specified in this manual. Other types of
batteries and portable power packs may burst
causing personal injury and damage.
3.
Use only recommended USB cable specified in
this manual. Other types of USB cable may cause
an unexpected communication problems or troubles.
4.
Use this adapter only with the Portable Battery
Checker below:

Do not expose this adapter, Portable Battery
Checker, battery cartridge, and portable power
pack to rain, snow, or wet condition.
Do not carry the Portable Battery Checker by

this adapter installed to the Portable Battery
Checker or by the battery cartridge / portable
power pack installed to this adapter. Otherwise
it may cause falling and result personal injury.

Do not disassemble this adapter. Reassembly
may result in a risk of electric shock or fire.
8.
Do not operate this adapter if it has received a
sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwise dam-
aged in any way; take it to Makita authorized
service center. Incorrect use may result in a
risk of electric shock or fire.
9.
Be careful not to step on the Portable Battery
Checker or trap any cords when using the
Portable Battery Checker on the floor.
10. When using the Portable Battery Checker with the
portable power pack, put the portable power pack
on the stable surface. The Portable Battery Checker
is used in static position. Using the portable power pack
which you carry on your back may cause falling accident.

INSTALLATION

NOTICE:
Finish all preparation for the Portable
Battery Checker before starting this procedure.
For the preparation of the Portable Battery Checker,
refer to the instruction manual of the Portable Battery
Checker.
Updating the firmware
NOTICE:
Remove the Interchangeable Adapter
for BTC from the Portable Battery Checker before
starting the firmware update.
1.
Turn on the Portable Battery Checker. In the
Makita logo screen, check the version number.

If the version number is 3.0 or larger number, you do not
need to update the firmware.
If the version number is smaller than 3.0, you need to
update the firmware. Follow the procedure below.
2.
Turn off the Portable Battery Checker. Open the
cover and insert the SD memory card into the slot.

4. Portable Battery Checker
NOTICE:
Be sure to insert the SD memory card
parallel to the slot.
3.
Turn on the Portable Battery Checker. The update
screen will be displayed.

The update will take approximately 7 seconds. The
Portable Battery Checker automatically turns off when
the update is finished.
