6. Turn the oil drain valve 1/4 turn counterclockwise to
start draining the oil (Figure 15).
7. When all the oil is drained, turn the oil drain valve 1/4
turn clockwise to close the valve (Figure 15).
8. Remove the drain hose and wipe any oil that may have
spilled.
9. Fill the crankcase with the specified oil; refer to Engine
Oil (page 19).
10. Dispose of the oil properly. Recycle it as per local
codes.

Servicing the Air Cleaner

Service Interval: Before each use or daily—Check the air
cleaner.
Every 50 hours—Clean the air cleaner. (more often in
dirty or dusty conditions)
Every 300 hours—Replace the paper element.
1. Disconnect the spark-plug wire from the spark plug.
2. Remove the wing nut securing the air-cleaner cover to
the air cleaner, and remove the cover (Figure 16).

3. Clean the cover thoroughly.
4. Remove the wing nut from the air filter, and remove
the filter (Figure 16).
5. Remove the foam filter from the paper filter
(Figure 16).
6. Inspect both air-filter elements, and replace them if
they are damaged.
Note: Always replace the paper air-filter element at
the scheduled interval.
7. Clean the foam element as follows:
A. Wash the foam element in a solution of liquid soap
and warm water. Squeeze it to remove the dirt,
but do not twist it, because the foam may tear.
B. Dry it by wrapping it in a clean rag. Squeeze the
rag and foam element to dry the element, but do
not twist it, because the foam may tear.
C. Saturate the element with clean engine oil.
Squeeze the element to remove excess oil and
