Linux Based Configuration

When configuring the ARTIK development kit using Linux, follow the steps below.

Determine the Port Number

To obtain the port number, type in the following command at the Linux prompt and hit Enter.

$ dmseg | tail | grep tty

The following information is displayed:

Set up a Serial Console

Samsung recommends Linux users install one of the following free programs to provide a serial console for

communicating with the ARTIK development kit.

Screen (https://www.gnu.org/software/screen)

•

Minicom (https://alioth.debian.org/projects/minicom)

Follow the instructions below to install and run either program. All commands shown are entered at the command

prompt of the Linux host system, except as noted.

Installing the Screen Console Application

To install the Screen console, type in the following command at the Linux prompt and hit Enter.

$ sudo apt -get install screen

To login as Superuser, use the following command:

$ sudo screen /dev/ttyUSB0 115200 cs8 ixoff

Installing the Minicom Console Application

To install the Minicom console, type in the following command at the Linux prompt and hit Enter.

$ sudo apt -get install minicom

To configure the program, execute the following steps:

Start Minicom in configuration mode.

$ sudo minicom -o -s
