ARTIK 530s Software Configuration

This section describes the software configuration for the ARTIK 530s Development Kit in both the Windows and

Linux Operating environments. This section assumes that power has been applied to the development kit. If not,

refer to the section below. If the kit has already been powered up, select either the Windows- or Linux-Based

configuration sections below.

If power has not been applied, perform the following steps:

Insert the power supply into the 5V - 12V power jack as shown in Figure 16.

2. Turn on the power switch as shown in Figure 17. To verify the switch is ON, turn the development kit over to

view the LED's on the bottom of the Platform board. One or more LED's should be illuminated.

3. After turning on the power switch, it may be necessary to press and hold the PWR_KEY pushbutton switch in

order to boot the ARTIK module. To check, locate the PWR_KEY button as shown in Figure 9. If the red LED

next to the PWR_KEY button is illuminated, the ARTIK module is on. If the LED is not on, press and hold the

PWR_KEY button until the LED comes on.

4. The module has now been powered-up.

When configuring the ARTIK development kit using Windows, it is necessary to determine the COM port number

associated with the development kit. The development kit communicates with the host machine via a micro-USB

cable. The micro-USB/UART port is located on the Platform board next to the speaker/headphone jack as shown in

Figure 10.

Determine the COM number

The COM number can be determined using the following procedure.

At the lower left corner of the Windows main screen, click the Start button. Type in Device Manager and hit

Enter.
