2. DOES NOT DISPLAY. (THERE ARE KEY
SOUNDS, BUT NO DISPLAY.)
Replace the LCD UNIT.
NG
Open the set and check
the following:
Enter the diag mode and check the following.
1) Check the voltage levels related
to the LCD.
2) Check that the FPC of LCD is properly connected to the connector.
3. THE FRONT LIGHT DOES NOT TURN ON
Replace the inverter unit.
NG
Open the set and check
the following:
Enter the diag mode and execute "NO10 FRONTLIGHT check.",
and push Calendar key.
1) Check that the inverter unit is properly connected to the connector.
2) Is VCC to the inverter unit normal?
(Is F302 not blown off?)
3) Check the level of FLPWM.
FLPWM (TP305): Check that the level is
not 0V. (Normally operates on 3.3V at
about 170Hz.)
4. INPUT OPERATIONS WITH THE TABLET
ARE INVALID
Enterring the DIAG mode : Press and hold [P]
Enter the diag mode.
and [D] keys, and press FULL RESET button
simultaneously.
There is
a touch sound.
Touch the tablet.
There is no
touch sound.
OK
Replace the LCD unit.
NG
Check the following:
1) Are figures indicated on AIN0 and AIN1 on the lower side of the
diag menu?
No display: Check soldering of IC501/IC901.
2) Does X903 oscillate? ( X903 = 18.432 MHz)
3) Is FPC of the tablet disconnected? Is it properly connected to the
connector?
If the display is normal, replace the
LCD unit.
: +15V (TP357) = +15V m 5%
(TP350) = -15V m 5%
: -15V
(TP356) = -12V m 1V
: -12V
: VSHA (TP318) = +5V m 10%
: VSHD (TP308) = +3.3V m 10%
If the light turns on, replace the
inverter unit.
VCC: 4.5V or above
Perform the tablet check.
Replace the LCD unit.

5. CANNOT BE DISCHARGED
Connect the adapter and enter the diag mode. (No main battery)
DIAG MENU(1/4)
Select "3. Battery Voltage Adjust."
Select "No. 1 Battery Voltage Adj."
Check "MainBatAd: ***" at the center of the display.
If the figure of is 600, it is normal.

If the figure of is 000, it is abnormal.
***
DIAG MENU(2/4)
Select "10. Charge."
Select ON.
If LED (A) turns on, it is normal.
If it does not turn on, the AC adapter is not detected.
6. KEY INPUTS ARE INVALID.
Does an abnormality lie on the slide
key or on the keyboard?
If the abnormality is on the slide key,
check that it occurs when closed or
when opened.
Check soldering of IC901 and the state of the pull-up
The other cases
resistors and the series resistors.

7. ABNORMAL DISPLAY COLORS
Execute "1. Com Adj Setting" of DIAG MENU (1/4).
If the abnormality remains:
Replace the LCD unit.
NG
Execute "9. Earphone check" of DIAG MENU (1/4) and check for any
change in the volume.
No change:
Check the sections related to IC901. IC901-87PIN/88PIN
Check the sections related to IC301. IC301-1PIN/8PIN/7PIN/6PIN BR306
Some change: Check the VCOM signal of the LCD unit from IC301 1 pin.

Check with the diag key check.
Remove the slide key and check for
dirt on it.
Check for improper soldering of the
main key spring and deformation of
the terminal section.
Confirms whether there is continuity
through R301-R314.
