3 Installing the Product
Important

It is recommended to polish the joining surface of the bus bars prior to assembly. Polish the
joining surface of the busbar with a fine abrasive material (grit 600 or higher) such as
sandpaper or scrubbing pad. Polish until the surface is evenly scratched and the color is
equivalent of "freshly polished" on color chart used in ASTM D-130 Copper Strip Corrosion
Standards. Refer to Figure 3-36: Copper Busbar Appearance.

It is recommended to apply electrically conductive grease on the joining surface to reduce the
contact resistance. After polishing the surface of the busbar, apply the grease on the busbar
and spread it evenly and thinly on the surface using a wire brush or a dry cloth. Refer to Figure
3-37: Conductive Grease on Busbar for the application of the grease on the busbar.
NOTICE

After polishing the busbar, make sure the metallic particle does not settle on the electronics.
Clean the surface with a dry cloth before assembling the busbar to the terminal.
NOTICE

As a reference, grease used by Samsung SDI for internal testing is "Ox-Gard Anti-Oxidant
Compound OX-400N". Electrical conductivity, thermal and chemical characteristics of the
grease must be properly checked and tested before use.

When applying the grease, make sure there is none on the screw threads.
