Troubleshooting
Possible Cause
The modem service is not
running, or it is not functioning
properly.
There is a network problem
between the cart and the MUSE
file server.
Invalid information entered
during configuration of the client
bridge.

Verify that the service(s) is listed as Started in the services applet on
the file server.
If the service is not started, start the service or restart CV_SCM. If the
service is started, but appears to not be functioning, it may be
necessary to restart the service.
Note: Individual modem services can only be stopped and started
individually on MUSE 5X systems by using the CVSCTRL utility,
available from the Jupiter OLC. Modem services can also be stopped
and restarted by stopping and starting the CV_SCM service.
1. Test connectivity from the MUSE to the cart by "pinging" the IP
Address of the client bridge from the file server.
2. If that does not work, try "pinging" the access point (if its IP Address
is known).
3. Verify whether or not any cart can communicate with the MUSE.
If other carts can transmit via the same access point, the problem
may be with the modem service that is associated with the non-
working cart. Follow the steps in the above Possible Cause for the
modem service not running or not functioning properly.
4. If no carts can communicate via an individual access point, try
using another access point.
If no carts are working from any access point, you should try
restarting all modem services first. If that does not help, you should
verify that MUSE clients are working, since they are using at least
some of the same portion of the wired network.
1. Using a paper clip, press and hold the Config button for 12-15
seconds until the lights flash.
2. Release the Config button. The amber light will stop flashing.
3. Run the symbolst.exe configuration utility.
4. Select the client bridge and click on the Configure button.
5. After the configuration windows opens, select File → View Event
Log.
6. When Unit Event Log appears, select File → Clear Event Log.
7. Close the Unit Event Log and proceed with the configuration of the
client bridge as described in
page 4.
