To ensure a long life span for the general construction of the machine, the machine exterior
should be kept clean and should periodically be inspected for rust, leaks and other defects. Dirt
on the machine exterior exposes the frame to corrosion and can affect the cooling of the
machine.
The tightness of all fastenings should be verified regularly. Special focus should be given to the
grouting, the anchor bolts and the rotor parts, which must remain correctly tightened at all times.
Loose fastening in these parts can lead to sudden and severe damage to the entire machine.
General values for tightening torques are presented in Table 7-2 General tightening torques.
