6E4-18 ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM (J18 ENGINE WITH WU TWC)
Sensor-1
1. Exhaust manifold
2. Heated oxygen sensor-1
Sensor-2
1. Exhaust pipe
2. Heated oxygen sensor -2
1. Crankshaft position sensor
2. Cylinder block
1) Disconnect negative cable from battery.
2) For sensor-2, remove console box.
3) Disconnect coupler of heated oxygen sensor and release its
wire harness from clamps.
4) For sensor-2, Hoist vehicle.
5) For sensor-1, remove exhaust manifold cover.
6) Remove heated oxygen sensor from exhaust manifold or ex-
haust pipe.
INSTALLATION
Reverse removal procedure noting the following.
D Tighten heated oxygen sensor to specified torque.
Tightening Torque for heated oxygen sensor
(a): 45 N·m (4.5 kg-m, 32.5 lb-ft)
D Connect coupler of heated oxygen sensor and clamp wire har-
ness securely.
D After installing heated oxygen sensor, start engine and check
that no exhaust gas leakage exists.
CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR
Refer to "Camshaft Position Sensor" in Section 6F2 for inspection,
removal and installation procedures.
CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR
INSPECTION
Check crankshaft position sensor referring to Steps 2 and 3 of DTC
P0335 Diag. Flow Table in Section 6-1. If malfunction is found, re-
place.
REMOVAL
1) Remove transmission from vehicle and then remove flywheel
or drive plate from crankshaft.
2) Disconnect connector from crankshaft position sensor.
3) Remove crankshaft position sensor from cylinder block.
INSTALLATION
Reverse removal procedure noting the following.
D Check to make sure that crankshaft position sensor is free from
any metal particles and damage.
D Apply engine oil to O-ring of sensor.
D Install crankshaft position sensor to cylinder block.
Tightening Torque

(a): 6 N
m (0.6 kg-m, 4.5 lb-ft)
D Connect connector and fix wire harness with clamp securely.
