Servicing the Engine Cooling
System
Removing Debris
Remove debris from the oil cooler and radiator daily. Clean
them more frequently in dirty conditions.
1. Turn the engine off and raise the hood. Clean the engine
area thoroughly of all debris.
2. Remove the knobs (Fig. 52) securing the oil cooler to
the frame.

3. Pivot the oil cooler rearward. Clean both sides of the oil
cooler and radiator area (Fig. 53) thoroughly with
compressed air.
Important
Cleaning the radiator or oil cooler with
water can promote premature corrosion and damage to
components.

4. Pivot the oil cooler back into position. Secure it to the
frame with the knobs and close the hood.

Servicing the Alternator Belt

Check the condition and tension of the belts (Fig. 54) after
every 100 operating hours.
1. Proper tension will allow 3/8 in. (10 mm) deflection
when a force of 10 lb. is applied on the belt midway
between the pulleys.
2. If the deflection is not 3/8 in. (10 mm), loosen the
alternator mounting bolts (Fig. 54). Increase or decrease
the alternator belt tension and tighten the bolts. Check
the deflection of the belt again to ensure that the tension
is correct.
