1. Raise the front cutting unit slightly off of the floor, set
the parking brake, and stop the engine. Remove the
ignition key.
2. Remove the hairpin cotter and clevis pin securing the
deck transport latch to the latch plate (Fig. 80). Pivot
latch toward rear of deck.

3. Remove the hairpin cotter and clevis pin securing the
height-of-cut chains to the rear of the cutting unit.
4. Start the engine, slowly raise the front cutting unit, and
stop the engine. Remove the ignition key.
5. Grasp the front of the cutting unit and lift it to an
upright position.

6. Hold the cutting unit upright, fit the cable end over the
pin on the cutting unit lift arm and secure it with the
hairpin cotter (Fig. 81).

1. With the help of another person, hold the cutting unit
upright, remove the hairpin cotter securing the cable
end, and remove the cable from the pin.
2. Pivot (tilt) the cutting unit downward.
3. Store the cable under the operator's platform.
4. Sit on the seat, start the engine, and lower the cutting
unit until it is slightly off of the floor.
5. Secure the height-of-cut chains to the rear of the cutting
unit.
6. Pivot transport latch upward into position and secure
with clevis pin and cotter pin.
Tensioning the Cutting Unit
Drive Belts
Check the condition and tension of the cutting unit drive
belts initially after 8 hours of operation and every 50
operating hours thereafter.
