Starting Lathe

Starting and stopping the lathe requires a couple
of steps. First, the master switch (Figure 50) on
the back of the lathe must be turned to the "1"
position "ON", the green power lamp (Figure 51)
will light.

Note: If you press the emergency stop button
now, the power light will go out and cut power to
the motor and spindle ON/OFF lever. Twisting the
emergency stop button and letting it pop out will
restore power for all lathe operations.

Emergency Stop
Power Lamp
Move the spindle ON/OFF lever (Figure 52) to
start and stop spindle and chuck rotation.

To slow a free wheeling chuck to a stop without
cutting power to the motor, partially press the
foot brake (Figure 53) down. To stop the chuck
and kill all power to the motor and controls as
fast as possible in an emergency situation, push
the brake down completely. Once stopped, the
spindle lever will then need to be returned to the
neutral position.
