Introduction
Hitachi Content Platform ( HCP )
S Series Nodes can be sent out for
®
use in Hitachi Data Systems
(HDS) engineering labs, for product
demonstrations at HDS sites, and for proof-of-concept trials at customer
sites. When these S Series Nodes are returned, they need to be refurbished.
Refurbishing returns the S Series Node components to a condition in which
they can be used either in new S Series Nodes or as replacement parts for
existing S Series Nodes.
Refurbishing an S Series Node entails wiping the drives that contain the
customer data and disassembling the hardware. Disassembled components
that are in working condition are returned to inventory.
Before you begin refurbishing an S Series Node, you need to install certain
software on your laptop computer and prepare the USB flash drives
required for the refurbishment procedure. This book contains instructions
for these tasks.
The refurbishment procedure differs between S10 Nodes and S30 Nodes.
This book contains a separate set of instructions for each of these models.
An enclosure that was used in an S30 Node can be returned by itself. In this
case, to wipe the drives in that enclosure, you need to include the enclosure
in an S30 Node that you're currently refurbishing. If no S30 Node is
currently being refurbished, you need to remove the upgrade-kit drives
from the enclosure, if applicable, and then return the enclosure to inventory
as is.
