Suspension

Your front and rear suspension systems use springs and hydraulic
damping devices that suspend your weight and most of the weight
of your Honda SXS.
The oil damper systems hydraulically control the natural compression
and rebound of the suspension springs so that traction and comfort
are maintained as the wheels ride over rough terrain.
The front and rear shock absorber assemblies include a damper unit
that contains high pressure nitrogen gas. Do not attempt to
disassemble, service, or dispose of the damper. See your dealer.
(SXS1000M3D Deluxe only)
The spring pre-loads for your rear suspension system adjust the
amount of force required to begin compression of the spring.
Consider adjusting your suspensions pre-load whenever you change
your normal load, by adding cargo or accessories, or when driving
conditions change.
The way you drive your Honda SXS and the type of ride you want to
experience can also influence your suspension needs.
Lower spring pre-load provides a softer ride and is usually preferred
for light loads and smooth terrain. Higher spring pre-load provides a
firmer ride and is recommended for heavy loads and rough terrain.
(SXS1000M3D Trail/M5D Trail only)
The way drive your Honda SXS and the type of ride you want to
experience can also influence your suspension needs.
You may adjust the damping of the front and rear suspension systems.
(SXS1000M3D Forest/M5D Deluxe/M5D Forest only)
Your Honda SXS is equipped with an auto leveling rear suspension.
When there is a weight of rear passengers or loads on the cargo bed,
the rear shock absorber automatically extends while driving to level
off the lowered rear of the vehicle. Manually adjusting the spring
pre-load is not necessary.
