Recording
"1" flashes when I try to start
recording.
Cannot record.
Timer recording doesn't record a
program correctly.
Cannot record from other
equipment.
Black bands appear in the
recording.
The copy of a videotape or DVD is
very poor.
Listening to the radio
Cannot select the tuner
Noise is heard.

≥If the erasure prevention tab has been removed, cover the hole with adhesive tape.
≥Check the clock and calendar.
≥Set the channel and start and end times correctly.
≥Be sure to press [F] after programming to put the unit in timer recording standby.
≥Program times may be overlapped.
≥Press [3 CHW] or [4 CHX] to Select "AU".
≥Check the connections to the other equipment.
≥Move the other equipment away from the television as it may be picking up interference.
≥This unit complies with industry standards regarding the recording and duplication of copy-
protected material. This includes commercial videotapes and DVDs. Consequently,
copying not only infringes copyright laws but also presents serious technical difficulties.
Even in cases where a copy can be made, the quality will be very poor.
≥Check and see if the subwoofer's AC power supply cord is connected.
≥Adjust the position of the FM or AM antenna.
≥Use an outdoor antenna.
≥Turn the television off or separate it from the unit.
≥Separate the antenna from other cables and cords.
≥The DISPLAY setting is set to "DIM" or "OFF" under OPTION from the VCR MENU. Select
"BRIGHT" if you want the display bright all the time.
≥The tape counter does not change while playing unrecorded parts.
≥The display also appears like this if the tape is dirty or damaged. Consult your dealer if this
is the case.
≥You inserted a disc the unit cannot play; insert one it can.
≥You inserted a blank DVD-RAM.
≥You haven't inserted a disc; insert one.
≥You haven't inserted the disc correctly; insert it correctly.
≥Check and correct the speaker cord connections.
If this does not fix the problem, there is a power supply problem. Consult the dealer.
≥Disc is dirty. Wipe it clean.
≥Incorrect operation performed. Read the instructions and try again.
≥Trouble may have occurred. The number following "H" or "F" depends on the status of the
unit.
Reset procedure:
Press [Í] to switch the unit to the standby mode and then back to ON.
Alternatively, press [Í] to switch the unit to the standby mode, disconnect both AC power
supply cords, and then reconnect.
≥If the service numbers fail to clear, note the service number and contact a qualified service
person.
≥You are trying to display incompatible pictures.
≥Go to Display in the SETUP menus, and select "On" for "On-Screen Messages".
≥Go to OPTION in the VCR MENU, and select "ON" for "OSD".
≥Press [3, 4] while the rightmost icon is highlighted to move them down.
≥Go to Disc in the SETUP menus, and select the preferred language for "Menus".
≥Go to LANGUAGE in the VCR MENU, and select the preferred language for menus.
